Did you “Spring Forward” and Change Your Detector Batteries?

A reminder that today Sunday March 11, 2012 is the time to move your clocks forward one hour.  Always a sure sign of better weather as we prepare for the coming days of summer.  But, it’s also a great time to change the batteries in your smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors.  And, while you are checking your home for safety items, detector manufacturers are recommending that Carbon Monoxide detectors be replaced every 5-7 years.  The date of manufacture of the detector can be found on the reverse side, usually in small print, sometimes stamped.  Replacement detectors can be purchased at any local hardware or “big box” retail stores.  If you have any questions, stop by a fire station, and we can help.
