Overturned SUV Fully Involved At Scene of MVA

Just after noon on Saturday, September 22, 2007, Station 55 was dispatched with Station 54 to an Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) with a fire -- originally reported at the intersection of Chandler Road and Jackson Mills. While enroute to the call, Ocean County Fire advised that the actual location was at Harmony Rd. and Jackson Mills.

The accident was caused by the operator of a Toyota RAV 4 (which according to the Asbury Park Press was observed to be speeding by Freehold Township Police) which then collided with a car at the Harmony and Jackson Mills Road. After hitting the car, the RAV 4 then hit a traffic light stanchion, rolled over several times and caught on fire.

With Freehold and Jackson Police on the scene, Chief Smith 5500 and Assistant Chief Mike Fatovic arrived on location reporting a working car fire. On arrival, Engine 5521's crew stretched two inch and three quarter hose lines and assisted by Jackson Mills Engine 5411's crew, knocked the fire down quickly. The Toyota was a total loss.
